Trent Hodgkinson Muay Thai Interview: WBC WA State Champion
Trent Hodgkinson fights out of Kao Sok Muay Thai in Perth and holds the WBC WA State title. We sat him down at Empire Fight Series Legacy in March, before he went out and won the 64 kg tournament, and by September he was headlining Empire Fight Series 14 against Owen Gillis. Here are his 3 extra minutes.
Trent Hodgkinson and the Empire Legacy 64 kg tournament
Empire Fight Series Legacy ran on Saturday 28 March 2026 at Motormall Prestige & Performance in Wangara, Perth. The card had a 4-man 64 kg tournament, $5,000 to the winner. Trent beat Noah Combes of Monsters Inc. by unanimous decision in the semi, then Connor O'Reilly of Suay Muay Thai, also by unanimous decision, in the final, with a knockdown in round 1 (Aus Muay Thai results).
Trent was already WBC WA State Lightweight Champion going in. He went into Empire Fight Series 14 at 12-3 on a 7-fight unbeaten run (Empire's tale of the tape; our 23 May post). Between this chat and Empire 14 he retained his Capital Combat Pro Series title in Canberra with a round 5 TKO.
Phat Chats is our quickfire interview series. A pro fight runs 5 rounds of 3 minutes; Round 6 is the 3 extra minutes after the bell: 17 questions, one clock, and the fighter picks who sits in the chair next. Robbie Mars filmed Trent's for Series 1 at Legacy on 28 March 2026, before his first bout of the night. Grey hoodie, headphones round his neck, two fights still ahead of him.
Trent Hodgkinson vs Owen Gillis at Empire Fight Series 14
Trent had the headline bout at Empire Fight Series 14, Australia vs the UK, Perth, 5 September 2026. Australia took the series 3 to 2 (Aus Muay Thai results). Every fighter on the card wore Supa Phat. Trent fought for Australia in Emerald Green. Across the ring was Owen Gillis of MASDA Gym in Liverpool, the WMO Featherweight World Champion. Gillis won on the judges' cards (here's how Muay Thai fights are scored).
