The 3 extra minutes

Hardest you've ever been hit?

Fon: The hardest I've ever been hit was definitely in sparring at my own gym against a man who was probably 85-ish kilos. And that's what happened. I don't really remember.

Scariest opponent you've ever faced?

Fon: Back in my amateur days, I fought a girl called Kirstie Barr who was also a hybrid CrossFit athlete. And she was a mum and just jacked and she looked really scary, but she was actually probably one of the nicest people I've ever fought.

Best knockout of your career?

Fon: I haven't had any full knockouts, but in my last fight, I got a head kick eight count in the first 10 seconds, first round, in a title fight. And I was a bit shook because I was like, oh, is that it? But she got up and we carried on.

Favourite fighter of all time?

Fon: Look, I'll probably have to say my fiancé Alex "The Viking" Roberts. He's just retired, but he probably was one of my favourite fighters to watch. He came through the ranks. WBC world champion. Yeah.

Best fight you've ever seen?

Fon: Honestly, because it's just come fresh to mind, probably my stablemate Vinny, who just fought a few weeks ago in Melbourne. Five round banger against a hometown Melbourne boy. Should have won, but it was a cracking fight.

Most up & coming Muay Thai fighter right now?

Fon: I'd probably say someone who's going to establish their dominance and a real reign in their division. Probably Bryony Soden. She's just beat one of the best on the Thai circuits. So, yeah, she's pretty good.

Muay Thai to you in one sentence?

Fon: Belonging, kind of. Found it to just do some fitness and fun. And then it's addictive. It really creates discipline, a great community, great friendships. So, yeah, it's just everything.

Quickfire: punch, kick, elbow or knee?

Fon: Kick.

Quickfire: clinch or range?

Fon: Clinch.

Quickfire: body kick or head kick?

Fon: Body.

Quickfire: teep or low kick?

Fon: Cheap.

Quickfire: pads or sparring?

Fon: Sparring.

Quickfire: fight in Thailand or at home?

Fon: Probably home.

Quickfire: power or speed?

Fon: Power.

Quickfire: aggressive or counter fighter?

Fon: I like counterfighting.

Biggest Muay Thai advice to your younger self?

Fon: Take every opportunity that is presented to you. Don't double think it. Don't question. Don't doubt. Just take the opportunities when they come to you.

Who should do Round 6 next?

Fon: I reckon you should interview Alex Forman. Man's got some banter. See what he's got to say. Okay.

What Fon fought in

The Australian corner went Emerald Green in our Heritage Series Muay Thai Shorts. Australian flag badge on the right leg, Supa Phat badge on the left, black Supa Phat gloves with Buds on them. The shorts are microfibre and don't hold sweat. Fon picked clinch over range and sparring over pads. Both are sweaty work. Shorts that don't soak it up stay out of the way. Emerald Green and Royal Blue are both on the site now. Kitting up for your first fight? The women's Muay Thai gear guide covers what to buy first.

More Phat Chats

Who's next in the chair? Alex Forman of MASDA Gym. Alex, you're up for Round 6. Also from the Empire 14 card: Mia Skeer of Salford Striking Academy, who fought Fon that night, and Cian Lougheed of The Pit Muay Thai. Watch every Phat Chats episode in one place. Then go follow @fondeeezy.

Filmed and cut by Robbie Mars for Supa Phat, Perth, September 2026.
