Cian Lougheed Muay Thai Interview: Former WBC Australian Champion
Cian Lougheed is a former WBC Australian Champion out of The Pit Muay Thai in Perth, 31 fights in. He fought for Australia at Empire Fight Series 14 in September, and we filmed this before he stopped Jack Garcia when the MASDA corner threw the towel. Here are his 3 extra minutes.
Cian Lougheed vs Jack Garcia at Empire Fight Series 14
Empire Fight Series 14 was Australia vs the UK, Perth, 5 September 2026. Australia took the series 3 to 2 (Aus Muay Thai results). Every fighter on the card wore Supa Phat.
Cian fought for the Australian corner in Emerald Green, against Jack Garcia of MASDA Gym in Liverpool. He stopped Garcia when the MASDA corner threw the towel. Empire's tale of the tape had him at 30 fights going in, 17 wins and 8 by stoppage, and Aus Muay Thai bills him as a former WBC Australian Champion. He won the WBC Muay Thai Lightweight WA State Title in August 2021 and fought twice on the Rajadamnern World Series in 2023. His pick for best knockout is a first-round up elbow on a Thai opponent. Our Muay Thai elbow techniques guide covers why it ends fights.
Phat Chats is our quickfire interview series. A pro fight runs 5 rounds of 3 minutes. Round 6 is the 3 extra minutes after the bell. 17 questions, one clock, and the fighter names who sits in the chair next. Robbie Mars filmed Cian's in Perth before the fight. Most up and coming fighter right now? Trent, "the one that's on the card". That's Trent Hodgkinson, who headlined against Owen Gillis that night.
The 3 extra minutes
Hardest you've ever been hit?
Cian: The hardest I've ever been hit would probably have to be my trainer, Roy Wills. He had a shimp hat on that's probably for a child and head kicked me and my head was ringing for hours. I remember sitting in the shower after training going, f***, my head was still blaring. So yeah, thanks Roy.
Scariest opponent you've ever faced?
Cian: There's no scary opponent.
Best knockout of your career?
Cian: I reckon the best knockout of my career, well, I wouldn't say the best but the one I like the most is the up elbow when I fought against a Thai, against Teerawat, the first round.
Favourite fighter of all time?
Cian: My favourite fighter of all time. Great question. I've got different fighters from different eras. So the number one that would top it would have to be Yodwicha when he was younger.
Best fight you've ever seen?
Cian: I guess the best fighter I've seen was back in the day. I got to witness it, the gambling in Thailand. It was Muangthai versus Panpayak. And Muangthai is a clinch fighter, elbow fighter, and he knocked Panpayak with an up elbow. It was wicked.
Most up & coming Muay Thai fighter right now?
Cian: I reckon Trent. The one that's on the card. He's the man.
Muay Thai to you in one sentence?
Cian: Growth.
Quickfire: punch, kick, elbow or knee?
Cian: Knee.
Quickfire: clinch or range?
Cian: Clinch.
Quickfire: body kick or head kick?
Cian: Body kick.
Quickfire: teep or low kick?
Cian: Teep.
Quickfire: pads or sparring?
Cian: Pads.
Quickfire: fight in Thailand or at home?
Cian: Both.
Quickfire: power or speed?
Cian: Speed.
Quickfire: aggressive or counter fighter?
Cian: Aggressive.
Biggest Muay Thai advice to your younger self?
Cian: Have fun and enjoy it. Simple as that.
Who should do Round 6 next?
Cian: The next one that should be interviewed is Simmo from the gym.
What Cian fought in
The Australian corner went Emerald Green in our Heritage Series Muay Thai Shorts. Australian flag badge on the right leg, Supa Phat badge on the left, black Supa Phat gloves with Buds on them. The shorts are microfibre and don't hold sweat. Cian picked clinch over range. The clinch is sweaty work. Shorts that don't soak it up stay out of the way. Emerald Green and Royal Blue are both on the site now. If you picked clinch too, the Muay Thai clinch guide covers positions, rules and how to train it.
More Phat Chats
Who's next in the chair? Ben Dunkley. Also from the Empire 14 card: Mia Skeer of Salford Striking Academy and Jack Garcia of MASDA Gym, who gets his 3 minutes too. Watch every Phat Chats episode in one place. Then go follow @cianlougheed_.
Filmed and cut by Robbie Mars for Supa Phat, Perth, September 2026.
